I've been considering how best to offer patterns I've designed and have decided to make them available for free download. However, I would like to ask that if you download a pattern and enjoy making it that you consider making a donation to Heifer International. Heifer International is addressing world hunger and poverty with a holistic approach to animal husbandry and agricultural initiatives. I encourage you to visit their web site and find out more.

Here's a Sock "recipe" that you can use to knit a sock with any yarn you want.

(Knitted version of a 1954 crocheted pattern)
I recently came across some issues of "Farm and Fireside," a publication for local farmers and their wives published out of Springfield, Ohio. The issues I got hold of are from 1884 and 1885. One of the sections, called "Our Household," is filled with advice, patterns, recipes, household tips and editorial comment. Here are the scans from that section from the issues I have for your enjoyment and edification! Keep in mind that the publication was larger than the letter size I've used for the .pdf and so some of the quality is not what I would want. One person copied the pages into MS Word and said she got much better quality so you might need to play around a little with it but here goes.
Have a look at Dianna's blog for a look at current projects at www.knitNmore.blogspot.com.
